#BCFVLWalk 2012 August 12, 2012

I've blogged about organ donation a few times over the last couple years. Different stories that have touched our hearts, but one very close was that of my brother in law and having donated his kidney to his best friend and saving his life!

Last week he won the Shira Inspira award through the Kidney Stories of Hope campaign. From that he was given the opportunity to become the organizer for the Fraser Valley Kidney Walk this summer August 12th at Bear Creek Park in Surrey.

He was interviewed by the Surrey Leader, visit the following to hear his story

To find out how you can sponsor and be a part of the Fraser Valley Kidney Walk visit their website: http://www.fraservalleykidneywalk.ca/

Once again I want to stress the importance of becoming an organ donor...not everyone can be a living donor. But everyone can go online and sign up to be an organ donor when they pass away. What better thing to give, than the gift of life.

On a side note, Helene Campbell recently received a lung donation and is doing well.

Doing what you love is the cornerstone of having abundance in your life. – Wayne Dyer

I read a great inspirational blog this weekend. Words to live by!

I am very grateful for so many things in my life!  I have an incredible husband who's been supportive of me in all that I have done. I have 2 beautiful teenage daughters that are growing into amazing women. I have an excellent team, where we not only appreciate each other but our work and the clients that we serve.

I truly do love what I do!

The Last Canadian Penny

Today marks a historical moment in Canadian history as the Royal Canadian Mint made the very last penny ever. It's interesting to know that it cost 1.6 cents to make a penny today. Which makes perfect sense why we should no longer be making a coin that costs more than it is worth.

Just because the penny will no longer be made it doesn't mean they still cannot be used for purchases.

19th annual McHappy Day

Today a $1 from the sale of every Egg McMuffin, Happy Meal and Big Mac will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House B.C.

I don't normally advocate eating McDonalds...but today it's to support a very worthy cause! Ronald McDonald house offers families during a very difficult time a place to stay while their children are receiving medical treatment. Giving them a home away from home! As a parent we hope we will never need the Ronald McDonald house...which is why it is even more important to support the cause because Nobody plans to need their services.

To learn more about Ronald McDonald house visit their website today!

Make sure to stop by and support Ronald McDonald house today!

Minimum Wage increased today in BC

Did you know minimum wage increased to double digits as of today! It is now $10.25 per hour. For servers it has increased to $9.00 per hour. With the cost of living so high here in BC, it's good to see it above $10.

http://www.labour.gov.bc.ca/esb/facshts/min-wage.htm

We now have the 2nd highest minimum wage along with Ontario for all of Canada. It's interesting to see what it is across the country. Check out the following link to see where we stand...

For the love of the game...it's all about the kids!

Everyone who knows us, knows how big a soccer family that we are. Our eldest daughter has played high level soccer for many years now. It really doesn't matter what sport you play somewhere along the way the kids seem to get lost in the shuffle.

I read a great blog today where the love of the game and learning skills is their #1 priority. All sports clubs should learn from them. Win or Lose, bottom line is that our kids should be having fun and learning how to improve their skills!

Ultra digital Printing ...with some musical talent

I recently started to get all my printing from Ultra digital Printing in #Langley. They have done a fabulous job and get my work done often in the same day within a few hours of putting in my order. I am impressed with the quality of their work and the exceptional customer service.

Which is why I am happy to promote one of their staff singing a unique version of one of my favourite songs by Phil Collins "In the Air tonight". Check out his singing:
